Once back in her familiar surroundings, Stella felt at ease and fell into a deep sleep.
When she awoke, the villa was eerily silent. Clint preferred a private setting and had only a butler in residence, leaving other servants out.
Stella called out to him but received no response.
Reaching for her phone to call Clint, she noticed a message from him sent just ten minutes prior.
“Stella, I’m meeting an old friend for a chess game and won’t be back until later tonight. Lunch is prepared for you. Please eat it when you wake up.”
A helpless smile crossed her face.
She walked into the dining room and discovered several of her favorite dishes laid out on the table.
Just as she was about to text Clint in response, the doorbell rang.
Assuming Clint had returned early, she rushed to answer the door.
“Grandpa. . Stella’s voice trailed off as she opened the door, shocked to find someone else there.
“Mr. Clark? What brings you here?” Stella asked in surprise.
Matthew appeared as composed as ever. Yet, when he saw Stella’s pajamas, his eyes softened momentarily.
His face remained impassive, but on the inside, he was delighted.
Sure enough, his wife was cute.
“Mr. Clark? What brings you here?” Stella repeated.

Clearing his throat, Matthew said earnestly, “I apologize for the intrusion during your vacation, but there’s a matter of great importance. I need you to accompany me.”
Seeing his serious expression, Stella didn’t hesitate.
“Of course, I’ll come with you right away.”
Realizing her attire, she blushed.
“Would you like to come in and wait while I change?”
Matthew nodded.
“Please make yourself comfortable on the sofa. I’ll be quick.” With that, she scampered upstairs.
After much deliberation, she changed her clothes and descended the stairs.
